Frozen Yogurt 3 Ways with Yoplait Trix Yogurt

More often than not, yogurt is stored in our freezer at home. We eat it more that way than we do just as creamy yogurt from the refrigerator. Here are a few of our favorite ways to enjoy yogurt in its frozen form for both young and old.

Benefits of Yogurt in Your Kids Diet

Yogurt was a staple in my house when I was growing up. I remember clearly my parents eating it daily, and even now, my mom and dad have a whole shelf of their fridge dedicated to yogurt. So, we know we are eating it, but what are the benefits of feeding yogurt to yourself and your kids?

1. Yogurt is full of good bacteria. This bacteria promotes healthy guts, which means your digestive tract is working properly. Yogurt has probiotics that keep the microflora in your intestines healthy, and that means it also adds to keeping you healthy. It helps with everything from lactose intolerance to colon cancer. This makes it a benefit for all ages.

2. It keeps your bones strong. Yogurt may help prevent osteoporosis later in life, which might not be what youre thinking about for your kids, but building up your bones starts young.

3. If you have a girl, you probably know the horrors of vaginal infections. Yogurt does its job in this area, too, helping to normalize the pH and keep your girls clear and free from any itching and pain.

Yogurt-Laden Lunch Ideas

Its time for school, and if youre in the habit of packing lunches to send, youre probably like me in that you run out of ideas pretty quickly into the new school year. It goes beyond just having stuff to pack. Its that it gets boring packing the same thing day in and day out. Here are a few ways that you can take one ingredientsyogurtand turn it into several different lunch options.

Ideas for packing a yogurt-laden lunch:

• Turn it into a freezer smoothie. My kids love having frozen smoothies in their lunch. We pack them with ice packs, and by the time lunch rolls around theyre just right for stirring and sipping.
• Yogurt and pretzels or cookie sticks. If you have a dipper, pairing yogurt with pretzels or cookie sticks is a great way to get them to eat both.
• Fruit and granola. Its breakfast for lunch, but its oh so good. A scoop of granola and fresh fruit turn ordinary yogurt into a parfait.
• Frozen by its lonesome. My kids are yogurt lovers, and to keep the yogurt cool, Ill pop the whole package into the freezer at home. Then I just pack frozen yogurt that is thawed and still cold by the time theyre ready to eat.

Yoplait Trix Yogurt Mighty Muffins

School is back in full force. Now its back to waking up early, packing lunches, getting kiddies off to school, after school snacks, homework, after school activities, dinner time, bed time and You get the picture. Im tired just typing that. I try to do as much in advance as we can now. Like making muffins that they can grab and go with in the mornings. These muffins are not only fun to look at theyre moist and delicious. Weve swapped out most of the water and replaced it with Yoplait Trix yogurt! They make a fantastic addition to the lunch box or as an after school snack as well.

What youll need:
6.5 oz Triple Berry Betty Crocker Muffin Mix
1 Trix yogurt
1/4 cup water

What to do:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Place baking cups into a 6 muffin cup baking pan.

Stir muffin mix, yogurt and water together until well combined. Equally distribute batter between muffin cups. Bake 16 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test.

I love breakfast parfaits with yogurt and granola and lots of fresh berries, but my children seem less than enamored by them.
