As soon as the first crisp fall winds blow in, I start thinking about pears. Sure, sure, there are apples too, but pears are so understated and lovely they really have my heart. And though pears have a quiet flavor, they meld wonderfully with so many sweets, easily taking on honey, vanilla, or citrus undertones.
