This led to an impromptu decision by my daughter and I to bake ourselves and afternoon treat. The result was so easy and delicious and was ready just after we finished our lunch. BakedWerthers Caramel Apple Recipe
2 medium apple, any variety, but we chose granny smith
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon brown sugar
couple of shakes of cinnamon
8 chewy Werthers Caramel candies
About 1 cup apple juice
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut the top of the apple off and peel abut 1/2 inch. Using a melon baller, scoop out the core, making sure not to penetrate the bottom (you want it to be like a bowl). Combine the melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon and brush the apple with the mixture on the inside and outside. Stuff the hole with 4 caramels and place in a baking dish. Fill the bottom of the baking dish with about 1/2 inch of of apple juice. Place in over and cook for 24 to 30 minutes or until apple is soft. Remove and let sit for about 5 minutes before serving. Make sure to eat it warm!
