Growing up, cinnamon toast wasnt a regular thing at my house. But it did make the occasional appearance on days when we all needed a little extra comfort. Looking out the window at this chilly, rainy fall day, I think some sweet, buttery, and warm cinnamon toast would definitely hit the spot.
For this technique, I mix the sugar and cinnamon into the soft butter and spread it on the toast. After a quick stint in the oven, the toast is lightly crisped on the edges, and the center is moist and totally saturated with sweet, cinnamon-infused goodness.
Cinnamon Toast (adapted from the Pioneer Woman)
makes 4 slices
4 tablespoons butter, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 slices whole wheat bread
Preheat toaster oven to 350 degrees.
In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, sugar, and cinnamon, mixing with a fork until well-combined.
Divide the mixture between four slices of bread, and spread all the way to the edges.
Lay on a baking sheet and place in the oven. Bake for 6 7 minutes. To finish the toast, place under the broiler for 2 minutes.
Slice toast into triangles and serve.
