The World Series is almost here which is a huge deal for my Italian NY hubs. He is a big Yankee fan and was a bit devastated with his teams last two losses and Jeters broken ankle, so I decided a little baseball fun was in order. I made some great game day treats that are so easy and can be customized to your team colors. After he saw my efforts to cheer him up, he told me he had a Yankee epiphany, that they were going to come back for the win! I cant help but be charmed by my baseball loving man. Pretzel Bats
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
12 pretzel rods
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
sprinkles
wax paper
Place a glass bowl on top of a pot of simmering water, making sure the bowl does not touch the water (or use a double boiler). Pour in the chocolate chips and stir frequently until almost melted, then add the oil and stir until smooth and fully melted. Dip each pretzel into the chocolate and use the spoon to cover. Tap any excess chocolate and cover with sprinkles in your teams colors. Place on wax paper to dry for about 3 hours.
Baseball Cake Pops
I bought a pan like this bake pop pan to make cake pops. I normally make cake from scratch, but decided to follow some tips by using a box (with no hydrogenated oils). I made the box chocolate cake with 1/2 the amount of oil, 3 eggs, 1/2 the amount of water and swapped it with milk, then added a package of chocolate pudding. Then I sprayed the inside of the pans with baking spray (with flour) and the outside of the top pan with regular cooking spray. I cooked them at 350 for 20 minutes, but I have a feeling they could have come out at 18 minutes. My original plan was to melt white chocolate, but my chocolate must have been old because it curdled so I used frosting and piped on a string of red to make it look like a baseball.
