Snack time is a pretty serious business around here, and one simple snack I always love to have on hand is fresh bananas. But sometimes I cant keep up with them as well as Id like to. Instead of tossing the over-ripe offenders in the trash, I just freeze them for future use perfect for afternoon smoothies or rainy day banana bread. I used to just peel the banana and wrap it in a sturdy bag (like Hefty slider bags). But recently, Ive started cutting the bananas into chunks and freezing them on a tray. This gives me a lot more flexibility later on. Just need a half a banana? No problem! Need it to thaw quickly? Ive got that covered too.
To freeze your bananas the smart way, peel and slice them into roughly 2 chunks. Lay out on a rimmed baking sheet, or plate, lined with wax or parchment paper. Freeze for 4 hours, then place in a Hefty slider bag, label with the date, and stash in the freezer for awesome smoothies down the line!
